I love the Sentiment
I love the Sentiment

So I've been asked by several people what is the newest thing I've discovered, or what's the newest thing. And I think I wanted to talk about food, because, well food!

So, first, morning coffee.... Back when I was in Cabo Verde back in June, I got used to my morning double espresso (cafe double). I read somewhere that people that like Dark Chocolate also like their coffee black. So I guess that means that I fall into that category. I mean a double espresso is pretty ordinary. But I discovered something that really blew my mind, tomato puree with olive oil. I mean, bread tomatoes and olive oil isn't really a new concept, but there was something about having them in this combination and first thing in the morning was amazing!! The tomato puree was also a new thing and new textures, on toasted bread....

Second, Churros. I mean Churros aren't an entirely new concept with sugar, etc.... But I learned that apparently, churros are Spanish, not Mexican (I know...) and the traditional way to have is to dip them in hot chocolate, along with a coffee in the morning. Mind Blown. Apparently, there are two types of churros, the think flaky ones and the the thick ones (Churros de Patata) are my personal favorite, but that's just me.

Third, Gazpacho and Salmorejo.... So Gazpacho isn't really that new or amazing. I just discovered Salmorejo, which is essentially (not entirely) Gazpacho which has been blended with bread. It answers the age old question of "Should I have bread with my soup" with an YES. Blend the soup with the bread. Salmorejo is obviously thicker than Gazpacho, and the versions I've had a a little too garlic heavy for me, but that's a personal preference.

Time after time

So one thing that I’m really amazed at being in Europe is the length of history.  Growing up in the United States, for the most part, we have 300 years of history, 3 dates and maybe 10 names to rememb
